Dependent Fee Waiver
Eligible faculty and staff may transfer their fee waiver benefit to a qualified dependent. See Eligibility for more information.
Eligible faculty and staff may transfer up to two (2) courses or six (6) units, whichever is greater per semester to a qualified dependent (spouse, dependent child, or registered domestic partner). The waiver program only covers state tuition.
The qualified dependent must be a matriculated student working towards a degree, or the attainment of a teaching credential in the CSU.
The Dependent Fee Waiver Application must be submitted for each term before the start of the semester. The SJSU application deadlines are posted on the website for reference. Classes may be dropped and/or a non- refundable overdue payment fee assessed if your application is not received on time. If your dependent is attending classes at another CSU campus (not SJSU) check with the appropriate campus for their fee waiver deadlines and submit your application by the earliest deadline.
If your dependent is not currently covered under your San Jose State medical or dental plan, you must provide proof of relationship (such as a birth certificate, marriage certificate, or domestic partnership registration) when submitting your Fee Waiver application.
All eligible dependents taking graduate courses are subject to Taxation.
